Virtual Witte Museum 5K and Dino Dash Presented by University Health

Saturday, May 29, 2021

Lace up your running shoes for the 10th Annual Witte Virtual 5K and Dino Dash: Extreme Creatures Edition Presented by University Health! We invite you to join us for this exciting and family friendly virtual event on Saturday, May 29! New this year, the Witte will offer runners a route in Brackenridge Park to run on their own time.

Your support of the Witte 5K and Dino Dash provides vital scholarship underwriting for in-person and virtual field trip visits to the Museum. Though 2020 looked different than previous years, the Witte provided scholarships for in person field trips and virtual and live remote programs for approximately 12,000 students. With your support, the Witte will continue to offer many more scholarships for both in-person and virtual students visits in 2021. Your participation helps inspire young minds at the Witte and provides family-friendly fun outdoors for all ages.

This year’s Witte 5K and Dino Dash will be held in conjunction with the opening of a new exhibit, Extreme Creatures: Life at the Limits! Offering a fascinating lens on the world’s most remarkable organisms, Extreme Creatures: Life at the Limits explores the remarkable “superpowers” that some extraordinary organisms have evolved to survive and thrive, even under extreme conditions. Find out which giant mammals can survive for hours without breathing, witness bizarre mating serenades and meet the ultra-tough species that seem almost indestructible. Every race participant will enjoy complimentary admission into the Witte on Saturday, May 29 and Sunday, May 30 by showing their race bib at the Walker Admissions Desk!

When participating, please keep six feet of distance from others and respect local safety guidelines. We urge you not to run in groups or with others and appreciate participation while meeting the current guidelines of local and state authorities. Since we can’t walk/run/bike together, we encourage you to enjoy the health benefits of exercise and the outdoors all while practicing social distancing.
